Recreation

Residents of Winnipegosis enjoy a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational activities. During the summer, baseball games on the local diamonds, playing soccer on the school grounds, quadding through the local wilderness, fishing and boating on Lake Winnipegosis and the Mossey River, or golfing on the beautiful nine-hole golf course, are just a few of the favourite pastimes.

During the winter, people ice-fish, and snowmobile. Hockey, skating, and curling are also popular activities. The Winnipegosis area is also known for its game and bird hunting with plenty of deer, bear, fox, coyotes, and waterfowl to be had.  We have the MPI approved Sno-Pass trail that cuts right into our town and Poker Derby held annually (weather permitting).
Several outfitters and lodges in the area provide accommodations, guiding services and other amenities to visiting sportsmen and women.

For a bit slower pace, residents or visitors can enjoy a relaxing afternoon cruise on the lake or a tour through the town museum or stroll down the walking path at the beach and enjoy the views of the lake. The community is also known for its bird watching and wildflowers and is very popular among photography buffs and outdoor enthusiasts.

Camping facilities and beach overlook Lake Winnipegosis. Lake Winnipegosis is great for kayak and canoeing enthusiasts who want to challenge the 2nd largest lake in Manitoba and Canada’s 11th largest lake.

The community provides the perfect backdrop for fishermen, hikers and people who want to experience the incredible sights and sounds of the Village of Winnipegosis.
